Specialist Services

Our practice will gradually start to re-open its doors on Monday 15th June 2020, but we just wanted to be clear that this will not be business as usual, it will be a different kind of normal!

Please either call on : 01424 845530 or email on info@littlecommondental.co.uk

We are looking forward to welcoming you all soon and rest assured if you have had your appointments cancelled, we will be contacting you over the coming weeks to rebook.

We are accepting new patients, especially ones who are in pain to see our in-house root-canal specialist Sela.

We feel it would be useful to outline the plans for re-opening and for those that are new patients to the practice, the changes we have implemented in order to keep everyone safe, but we hope you still feel as welcome as you have always been.

Root Canal Treatment

We are very lucky to have an endodontist at the practice who is on the specialist endodontic register. She can diagnose the cause of tooth pain, and carry out root canal treatment, repeat root canal treatment or endodontic surgery where required.

A general dentist or self – referral to an endodontist can be received for the following procedures:

Primary root canal treatment of teeth with anatomical complexities such as:

  • Combination of curved, narrow, long root canals;
  • Multiple curves in root canals
  • Calcified pulp chamber or root canals; canal space not visible on diagnostic quality radiographs;
  • Adults with incomplete root development;
  • Re-root treatment
  • Anatomical anomalies (e.g. invaginations; palato-gingival grooves).
  • Surgical endodontic treatment of restoratively sound teeth when orthograde endodontic treatment is not viable.
  • Acute traumatic dento-alveolar injuries in adults or consequences thereof.
  • Vital pulp therapy (traumatic pulp exposures; stabilised deep caries with adequate tooth structure, possible exposure and absence of periapical disease).
  • Root resorption: affecting single restoratively viable tooth or affecting multiple teeth.
  • Endodontic diagnosis or opinion
  • Facilitation or management of complex retreatment
  • Post removal and instrument retrieval
  • Canal location or negotiation.
  • Endodontic treatment of second or third molar teeth

More Difficult cases that may need a more complex treatment plan, such as:

  • 1. Patients who have untreated primary dental disease.
  • 2. Teeth of questionable restorative prognosis
  • 3. Treatment requiring conscious sedation
  • 4. Teeth that have not been possible to anaesthetise

We may progress the root canal treatment to a point where the rest of the treatment can then be completed in general dental practice.
